We are looking for volunteers to help before and during the Bookfair and Festival this September. Different positions are available such as postering, welcoming & information table, room set-up, kids activities, bookseller relief, cleanup and more. While all jobs are important, there are a few we are especially in need of assistance. Please go over the list of job descriptions below and see if anything interests you.

Bookfair Volunteer Requirements

1. Welcome Table & Attendance Counters

We require as much help with this position as possible. Ideally, we'd like 2 volunteers to commit to at least one hour of work per shift to:
* Greet people as they arrive
* Keep count of arriving and departing visitors
* Answer questions
* Monitor the donation jar
* Contact organizers in case of an emergency

2. Set-up & Clean-up Crew

This work is one of the most important areas we need help with, and ensures we maintain a good relationship with our venue.

* Arrange tables and prep space, 9am on Saturday, Sept 11th and keep space tidy during the Bookfair.
* Clean bathrooms, sweep & mop floors, sort garbage, organics & recycling, and put away chairs/tables on the evenings of Saturday, Sept 11th & Sunday, Sept 12th.

3. Emergency detail

These volunteers require some previous skills or experience with emergencies. Participants can focus on either one or both aspects of this position, as described below:

* First Aid - Requires first aid experience and/or training.
* Security - Non-violent conflict management skills necessary. To ensure a safe space at the bookfair, we have instituted a policy of no drugs, no booze, no aggressive behaviour & no unauthorized photography. (Please review our accessibility statement.)

4. Kids Activities

Please note that we are NOT providing a child minding service, and encourage parents to remain with their children in the Kids Activity Space. However, we welcome anyone interested in helping with:

* Reading stories out loud
* Face painting
* Children's arts & crafts activities

5. Postering

If you are from out of town, or are travelling and want to help us spread the word, please contact us. We'll arrange to give you some posters to put up in your region.

Year-Round Assistance: Fundraising

Now that we are becoming a larger annual event in Victoria, we need to maintain a bit of an economic base (sadly, building an alternative anarchist culture is not yet free) for future bookfairs and festivals. We are interested in connecting with people who have a D.I.Y. ethic to raise funds for future projects.
